Sausage Sports Club: an interview with developers!

We finally decided to publish our interviews also in English for English-speaking world! Here's our first one:

NAH: What's the idea behind the game?

Chris Wade: Sausage Sports Club is a physics-sports game about adorable, floppy animals competing on a reality TV show! Duke it out with up to 8 friends in Free Play, where you’ll compete in tons of game modes like Soccer, Sumo and Capture the Flag. Not feeling competitive? Explore the toy-filled Overworld and get to know the show’s other melodramatic competitors in a 1-4 player replayable Adventure mode. No matter how you play, you’ll unlock new characters, skins, hats and arenas along the way.

NAH: Why did you choose Switch as one of the platform to publish your game?

Chris Wade: The cute characters, bright colors, family-friendly tone and unique gameplay all make the game a great fit for Nintendo Switch. I was heavily inspired by some of my favorite Nintendo games (Mario Party, Mario 64, Super Smash Bros, Animal Crossing, Wind Waker, Splatoon, etc) when designing SSC and it really shows in the final game.

NAH: How do you support the Nintendo Switch version (will take advantege of touch screen, rumble controls, etc.)?

Chris Wade: Sausage Sports Club uses the Switch features in the following ways:

- Players can control their floppy heads with the Joy-con's gyroscope

- There's tons of custom HD rumble for different types of collisions

- 8 player support!

NAH: Multiplayer is the main focus of your games or you like sperimenting?

Chris Wade: So far, many of my games have been local multiplayer games. I think the biggest reason for this is that until recently I haven't been a super confident game designer and local multiplayer games are easier to design. When you can assume players will interact and engage each other IRL your game doesn't have to be as good. I also find designing with those IRL interactions in-mind to be a lot of fun. For example, in the character select screen you can change which character another player has selected. That starts lots of fights which starts lots of laughter.

Chris was a pleasure to talk to you and we look forward to having your game in your hands, to try it and have fun together. Thanks so much!
